First Grade
When the Bureau of Meteorology said that the morning should be OK, however the rain will start to come in around midday and be heavy for the rest of the day, everyone was nervous about scoring the 38 runs required for a win. They were right about it starting OK but when the teams were forced off with rain with our score at 5 for 162 having lost Dylan Hunter for 37, we only needed 9 runs to pass Wests. Now everyone got a little more nervous.
Fortunately, it was only a passing shower and play resumed soon after. With the score reached, Nathan Doyle and Josh Claridge continued batting till after lunch when the real rain came in a washed out any further play. Nathan was on 49 and Josh on 40 when play was finished for the day and the score was 5 for 227.
This was a confidence builder for the team with contributions from many players. The next round is a one dayer at Chatswood and all of the grades will now start their seasons.
Second Grade
After a short delay due to some water on the wicket area surrounds, seconds were able to start in their bid to bowl out Wests for under their 199 from last week. The team started on fire with Callum Bladen picking up three wickets in his second grade debut and Matt Keevers one to have Wests 4 for 17 and in danger. A 5th wicket partnership of 40 was enough to hold out the Gordon attack until the rain came to force a draw.
