The AW Green Shield is the Under-16 boys’ competition in NSW Premier Cricket. It is widely regarded as the highest standard of junior club cricket in Australia and serves as the main entry point into the men’s Premier Cricket pathway.
Purpose
The competition is designed to:
- Develop the best under-16 male cricketers in NSW.
- Introduce talented juniors to Premier Cricket clubs.
- Prepare players for senior grade cricket and higher representative honours.
Gordon place great emphasis on helping our Green Shield players to graduate into grade cricket, with over half of the club’s current senior players commencing at ‘Greenies’ level. The ‘journey’ is exemplified by three young men who played Green Shield in 2019/20 who are currently representing the Stags in First Grade.
Our Green Shield team has been coached during the current season by former Australian fast bowler and Gordon legend Matt Nicholson, along with Connor Hindmarch, a fine young coach who has achieved great success in junior representative cricket.
