As the Sydney Premier Grade Cricket Competition moves towards the traditional break over the festive season, it also heralds the arrival of the U16 Green Shield Competition. It is always an exciting period, with the forty best performed Country players joining their Metro counterparts with high quality cricket the outcome.
The Stags have chosen a young squad for this season’s competition, however, it is also a group with plenty of ability and potential. Captain, Toby Robinson, entering his third year in Greenies, should relish the opportunity to provide stability to the batting order. Quality support will be provided from third year all rounder Vivaan Gandhi, opener Finn O’Farrell, along with Country all-rounders Tyler McInnes (Newcastle) and Cooper Pullen (Western). A number of impressive young batsmen are also expected to relish their first season in Greenies.
Tom Fuzes and Campbell, as returning players, will be two key performers, along with the allrounders and an emerging group of younger bowlers, who have shown their ability both at training and in trial matches.
Nick Miller and Matt Wright are coaching the team for the fourth year and certainly have a history of developing very competitive squads. They will have the boys similarly prepared for this campaign and the team, named below, have certainly been enthusiastic and hard working throughout the preseason:
- Aarav Ahluwalia
- Sam Dillon
- Atharv Dwivedi
- Tom Fuzes
- Vivaan Gandhi
- Ansh Gupta
- Archie Hetherington
- Tyler McInnes
- Finn O’Farrell
- Cooper Pullen
- Toby Robinson (captain)
- Satva Shah
- Campbell Smith
- Sean Twining
Good luck boys and go the Stags!
Cheers
