About Gordon Cricket Club
Gordon District Cricket Club is a leading club within NSW Premier Cricket, with a strong focus on player development and performance.
Based on Sydney’s North Shore, the Club delivers a structured and aligned program that supports players to develop, perform, and progress, underpinned by clear standards and strong coaching.
Position Overview
The Head Coach is responsible for leading Gordon District Cricket Club’s coaching program, driving player development and performance across all grades. The role will set standards, deliver an effective training environment, and provide leadership across the playing group and coaching staff.
The position may be structured as either:
- Combined Model – Head Coach is also 1st Grade Coach
- Split Model – Head Coach oversees the program with a separate 1st Grade Coach
The role will be supported by an assistant club coach and a range of specialist coaches.
Core Purpose
To lead and deliver a cohesive coaching program that supports player development and performance across the Club, and where applicable, lead the performance and preparation of 1st Grade team.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching Program & Training
- Lead and implement the Club’s coaching program across all grades
- Plan and deliver structured pre-season and in-season training
- Coordinate assistant and specialist coaches to ensure aligned delivery
- Ensure training is organised, purposeful, and aligned to performance outcomes
- Set and communicate clear expectations and standards
Player Development
- Support the development and progression of players across all grades
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and guidance
- Contribute to the development and tracking of players
- Support progression through grades and representative pathways
- Identify and develop emerging leaders within the Club
1st Grade Performance (where applicable)
- Lead the performance, preparation, and environment of the 1st Grade team
- Work closely with the Captain to implement game approach and standards
Culture & Leadership
- Promote a positive, performance-focused club environment
- Reinforce standards, accountability, and a club-first approach
Recruitment & Retention
- Contribute to the recruitment and retention of players aligned to Club needs
- Support the identification and engagement of assistant and specialist coaches
- Assist in building depth and continuity across the playing group and coaching program
Skills & Capabilities
- Strong technical and tactical understanding of cricket
- Proven ability to develop players and improve performance
- Effective communication and relationship management skills
- Strong planning and organisational capability
- Ability to set standards and drive accountability
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Cricket Australia Level 2 Coaching Accreditation
- Experience coaching at Premier Cricket 1st Grade level or higher
Desirable
- Level 3 Accreditation
- First-class or elite playing and/or coaching experience
Time Commitment
- Training twice per week (in-season), plus pre-season
- Match days (Saturdays and some Sundays – 1st Grade Coach where applicable) • Additional planning as required
