Gordon Club Practice

Purpose:

The aim of practice is to work on and improve our games to be the best cricketers we can be. Training sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Chatswood Oval between 4:45pm and 7:30pm. Players will be required to train 2 times a week and, whilst at training, we are there to work on our games. Train with PURPOSE/INTENT to ensure we are pushing ourselves and striving to be the best we can be as individuals and as a club. Equipment will be available to work on all aspects of your game including;

  • Batting
  • Bowling
  • Fielding
  • Fitness

Nick Miller and I will be at all sessions, whilst Matt Nicholson, Mark Atkinson, Mark O’Neill and James Kennedy will be around to help with their specialties at different sessions. They are all very approachable so feel free to discuss any part of the game with them. Equipment for drills will be laid out to utilise across the ground. Ensure we are using the space and equipment available across the oval.

Setting up and Completion:

  • Players are expected to be at training until its completion unless they have spoken with the coaches and their captain
  • We know some cannot make training until a bit later, but those that can arrive on time to setup nets are appreciated with many hands making light work
  • Players will put equipment away and nets down at the completion of training
  • Each captain (or nominated person) will take the grade’s ‘team kit’ each Thursday

Contingencies & Communications:

  • Training is always on unless otherwise advised via TeamApp and Facebook.
  • You need to communicate with your captain if you cannot make training. Whilst it’s understandable that you cannot attend training occasionally, it is a crucial part of improving your game. Please note that attendance at training can weigh in on selection.
  • If the nets are unavailable due to rain, we will use the ground to work on our fielding and fitness
  • If required, other arrangements will be made via coach and captain.

Dress Code:

  • Gordon gear is to be worn at all training sessions and on game days.

Safety:

For the safety of our all players there are a few basic rules;

  • Do not turn your back on the nets
  • Be aware of your surroundings during fielding drills. For example, be aware of players involved in another drill that would overlap and be aware of those walking around the oval if you are doing slips catching drills.

Parking:

  • If you decide to park inside the gates, don’t disrupt training by asking other players to move their car so you can leave.
